The subject of male and female - gender – originated from the time, when the biological genus was connected with the social activities of persons through the suitable to every genus the tasks, functions and roles. And till now long history of discrimination and limitations related to this subject, secretly and aside from own volition, impacts on our daily activities and decisions. Every woman knows such famous entrenched phrases as "Be silent, woman", or Nietzsche theory of three "К" limited woman by the kitchen, children and church?

In spite of the fact that more then half of country population is women, the amount of women involved into parliament, government, local authorities’ activities is less then 5%. Accordingly, women have a limited impact on important decision-making; do not use all their civil rights and professional potential. Add the different types of discrimination and violence including violence in the family, and it becomes clearly the over-relevance to gender equality problem. In according to questioning there is third of the polled women who feels limitation of their rights related to gender subject in Slavutych, 60% went through the violence in the family. But the potential of Slavutych women with high level of education, young age, free time when they retired on pension at the age of 45, is high enough.

In according to above mention the purpose of the new project is increasing of Slavutych women self-realization possibilities in the field of public activity, management, family life. The project is geared in two purposes as following: family violence prevention and social activity of the women development. Women who became the victims or witnesses of family violence will involve into the first direction, and local authorities concerned this subject. The participants of second direction are women with active vital position, leaders of non-governmental womanish organizations.

Community Development Center has in plans to hold the row of activities within the framework of the project, first of them took place within the previous week. 27.05.05 a "round table" meeting has been held involving the deputes of Municipal Council, deputes of Youth Council, members of local authority and community related to the project purpose and subject, and the ways of collaboration has been discussed.

The project will be performed from May to November, 2005. Seminars, trainings, "round table" meetings, competition of social micro projects, and also practical conference, "Woman in democratic society" will take place within the framework of the project. Famous political women, business-women, leaders of non-governmental organizations all over Ukraine are involved into the conference. These activities will provide to representatives of authority, womanish organizations, and socially actively women the opportunity to discuss the relevant problems of women, and to define the common ways of problems’ decision.
