(Sanitary Protection Zones – SPZ) aimed at ensuring of water objects protection in the areas of water collection for central water-supply for population, medical and sanitary needs.
Boundaries of the Sanitary Protection Zones (SPZ) of water objects are declared as Project of Organising of Land Use. SPZ boundaries are established by the Local Authorities on their territory after coordination with State Bodies of Land Resources, Sanitary – Epidemiological Inspection, Environment Protection, Water Economy and Geology.
Slavutych Town uses Water Protected Zones near underground water scoop along the water pipe 25 m from every side, near water-purifying facilities (50 m from the walls) and also riverside protecting facility along the Dnieper River 100 m wide in the area of "Yakor" (12 km from Slavutych)
In accordance with "Regulations of Surface Reservoir Protection from Pollution with Sewage" surface sewage of Slavutych Town are gathered from the whole catchment area and are taken to the ponds-accumulators from where after settling are thrown into the confluent collector and, if it is necessary, are moved to sewage treating facilities (hereinafter STF) for purification. For prevention of filtration from the facilities and polluting underground water with wastewater antifiltration screens of stone, sand and compost grounds and ponds – accumulators of rain wastewaters are foreseen. The width of water protection facilities along the spillway from STF to the River Dnieper is from 200 to 500 metres in accordance with the Project.
Slavutych "green" zone is woodland near the town.
To make Slavutych residents’ life more comfortable long-term programme of forest, hydro, geo melioration of the "green" zone territory is being developed in order to change woodland near the town into forest park and cultivated park territory with dendrological variety of species.
