LAND RESOURCES, USE OF TERRITORIES

According to the information submitted by the Land Resource Department, the territory of Slavutych Town consists of 2083 hectares of land with the following structure:

99.2% of total land area is State and municipal property.

There are no agricultural lands on the Town territory.

The experts have made estimation of surrounding lands because Slavutych is located as an enclave on the territory of Ripky District in Chrnigiv Region.

On the territory of Ripky Region there are 2 summer cottage co-operatives: "Ozerne" - 180 hectares, "Richkove" – 75 hectares.

According to the data provided by Land Resources Administration of Ripky Region the land area is structured as following:

  • agricultural land – 9800 hectares;
  • forests – 78000 hectares;
  • water (the rivers Dnieper, Sozh) – 2800 hectares;
  • water (lakes) – 3500 hectares;
  • land assigned for building up – 1500 hectares.

The territory of the Region is characterized by the high level of subterranean waters (0.5 – 1.5 m above surface) and some waterlogged plots.

The main crops cultivated on the agricultural land of Ripky Region are potato, mangel-wurzel, wheat, lupine, flax, rape.

Nowadays only 30% (2490hectares) of existing agricultural land in the Region are used.


RECREATION ZONES.

Officially in the Town there are no recreation zones. Areas covered with forest and territories near the River Dnieper may be regarded such zones as well as area covered with forest which surrounds the Town and the territory near the River Dnieper, where two recreation departments are located with the total area about 2 hectares. The Town area of green plantations for general use is 484.8 square metres. Places of rest for the residents are the forest, which encircles the Town from every side and park zone of the Town.

In contrast to the forest zone the Town park area is maintained, small sculptures are installed there and its territory is regularly put in order. Slavutych is on one of the leading places in Kyiv Region for planting of greenery and accomplishment.

Development of recreation and sanitary infrastructure is possible in Slavutych Region. For this it is necessary to organize work of recreation departments and provide them with necessary infrastructure (access roads, communication, transport, medical staff). It will allow to make the people’s rest more civilized, which meets modern requirements, and create additional jobs.

Development of "industrial – ecological tourism" with visiting of the contaminated 30 km zone and Chornobyl NPP is also perspective direction on condition that the issue of crossing of Ukrainian – Belorus borders by the tourist groups will be regulated.
