Slavutich Town is situated 187 kilometres from the capital of Ukraine, Kiev, and 57 kilometres form Chernobyl Nuclear Power Plant.
The population is about 25 thousand of 49 nationalities. Every third resident is a child under 16. The average age is about 30.
In 2004 within the framework of the Project "Increasing Business Opportunities for SME in Slavutich through Building the Capacity of the Business Development Agency" financed by UK Department of Trade and Industry Business Development Agency created "ANALYTICAL REPORT "SLAVUTICH RESOURCE POTENTIAL".
The Analytical Report "Slavutich Resource Potential" accumulates and summarizes the results of the Project experts’ research of Slavutich resource potential.
The aim of the Analytical Report is providing with the most complete, up-dated (regarding the time passed after the prescheduled closure of Chernobyl NPP) and reliable information relative to the social-economical situation in Slavutich. The Analysis has been conducted in dynamics and comparing with the analogical indexes in Live Region and Ukraine in general. This made it possible to define rating position of Slavutich with regard to other regions in Ukraine.
Analytical Report is figured for entrepreneurs, investors, officials of the Government Bodies and Local Government, managers of enterprises, establishments and organizations, students of the Economic Academies, as well as development of business plans, investment projects, and programs of the Region development.

With the purpose of development of traditions and establishment of Slavutich’s symbolic and according to Clause 22 of the Ukrainian Law "On Local government in Ukraine", the appearance of the Emblem and Flag of Slavutich was approved by the Decree of the Town Council.
The description of the Emblem of Slavutich.
The Emblem according the traditional scheme illustrates an administrative - territorial affiliation: in the top part of the escutcheon there is the old Kiev Emblem (Slavutich relates to the Kiev region). According to the heraldic tradition light-blue background symbolizes purity and innocence, black - wisdom, prudence and constancy - there are features, which are necessary for Nuclear Power city.
Other explanation of these colors: black - reminding about Chernobyl tragedy, which has become the reason of the town beginnings, light-blue - hope for the bright future. A gold star is the attempt to find a symbol of nuclear energy instead of "atomic model". Eight its endings - eight republics, which have taken part in construction of the town, its colour means power, force
The description of a flag of Slavutich town
The flag of Slavutich town has the form of a rectangle the size of which is 160 cm on horizontal and 100 cm on vertical. On the field of the flag in the left top corner on distance 15 cm from top and 15 cm at the left there is an image of the Emblem of town the width of which is 29 cm and height is 36 cm which is framed by a golden line with 1 cm width.
Field of a flag is divided on two parts, top (basic part) with height 70cm, on which the Emblem of town is placed, it is crimson, the underbody with height of 30 cm is golden- yellow. Taking into account a practicality, historicity and custom:
• Crimson color - freedom, glory, symbol of Cossack victory;
• Golden- yellow color - sun, riches, force and success.
The flag of the town is made of silk tissue.
