Unique social infrastructure has been created in Slavutych Town, which provides all essential conditions for studying.
EDUCATION AND SCIENTIFIC-TECHNICAL POTENTIAL
Effective social-preschool preparation system for children, which counts needs of Slavutych residents, operates in the Town.
Total number of children in preschool establishments makes up 1149.
"Centre of Child’s Development" started its work on June 1, 2003, and consists of 7 logopaedics groups and 3 groups of general development.
The largest educational group the Town is represented by four general education schools and lyceum.
Dynamics of Number of Pupils in Slavutych General Education Schools
Every year more than 450 graduates finish school, 17% of whom continue to study and obtain their higher education in Slavutych institutes of higher education.
In spite of insignificant tendency of decrease of pupils’ number at Slavutych schools, level of number of students in Slavutych for 1000 citizens is still the highest in Ukraine as it used to be.

Centre of Professional Development works in the Town, where Slavutych residents can up-grade their qualification, obtain up to nine specialties (due to certificated courses, which provide right for that) and pass retraining.
Langauge teaching courses.
Out-of-school work is represented by the widest in the Town sector. These are Palace of Children’s and Youth Creativity, which has got all complex of art departments: musical, artistic, choreographic, etc.
There are such forms of education as external studies and studying in the evening school for students, who by some reason cannot attend daytime school. During 2003-2004 school year 120 students attended evening school.

At the moment educational institutions employ 582 teachers. 82 of them have got higher category, 106 are the teachers of the 1st category, 123 have the 2nd category and 271 teachers have the category "specialist".
Virtual training centre was created on the basis of Informational-Library Centre in 2003, it contains three classrooms with Internet access.
High education system is represented by branches of high institutions of the 3rd and 4th level accreditation, which are Kyiv State University after T.G. Shevchenko, Kyiv Polytechnic Institute and Chernigiv State Institute of Economics and Management.
Total number of students in Slavutych makes up 1636 people. From the total number of the students of institutes 91.6% study at their own expense, 8.4% are at state budget expense.
Development of high education system, increasing of variety of technical specialties and departments will increase number of the students studying in Slavutych. Social infrastructure of the town, safe living in the Town and average age of the residents are the main factors for attraction of the students from other regions of Ukraine to Slavutych educational establishments.
Trade schools are created to meet the requirements of labour-market, as relating Slavutych they are of construction specialties and specialties on housing and communal services, development of training system of working specialties will favour to employment of Slavutych citizens in the companies, which implement work on the "Shelter" Object, Chornobyl NPP and in 30-kilometer contaminated zone.
The main scientific-technical centre in Slavutych is Chernobyl Centre of Nuclear Safety Problems, Radioactive Waste and Radio-Ecology.
Chernobyl Centre of Nuclear Safety Problems, Radioactive Waste and Radio-Ecology was created on 26 April, 1996 by the Decree of the President of Ukraine as a scientific-technical organisation, within the jurisdiction to Ukrainian Ministry, whose main objective is support, development and increase of efficiency of the international scientific-technical activity in the field of nuclear and radiation safety and radio-ecology.
Main directions of scientific-technical and engineering activity, which are being developed on the basis of ICC, are:
- nuclear and radiation safety
- physical protection
- decommissioning of nuclear facilities
- training in case of emergency response
- radio-ecology researches.
The structure of Chernobyl centre includes Laboratory of Engineering Developments and Technologies (LEDT), International Radio-Ecological Laboratory (IRL), Kyiv department/ Laboratory of Safety Analysis and Centre of Projects Monitoring (Kyiv).
More than 100 people work for Chernobyl centre at the moment, 71% of whom have high education, 10% have scientific degree, 30% is youth of the age under 30.

State evaluation of the threat of nuclear facilities, nuclear materials, radioactive waste and other sources of ionising radiation
Work in the framework of Kioto protocol of UNO Convention on changing of the climate
International forums
Every year scientific-practical conference "International Cooperation to Chernobyl" and International scientific seminar "Radio-ecology of Chernobyl Zone" are conducted in Slavutych.
International radioecology laboratory (IRL) was established on 22 July, 1998 and its activities include:
Research of the influence of radioactive contamination of Chernobyl zone on biologic objects and ecologic systems.
Ecological examination of the projects, technologies of production and products, ecological audit.
Development of the new technologies of effective overcoming of nuclear and radiation accident consequences and ecological rehabilitation of the environment.
Development of the reports on ecological safety analysis of the enterprises, productions and technological facilities.
Organisation and conducting of training courses and seminars on radioecology.
