The status of Slavutych Town territory is established by the Law of Ukraine "On the Legal Regime on the Territory Struggled from Contamination in Consequence of Chernobyl Catastrophe".
Harmful releases into atmosphere during the year(ton/1000 of population).
During building of the town, radiological control of the whole region was conducted and the maps of radiation contamination were created. Contaminated "spots" were repeatedly deactivated. Constant radiation monitoring is conducted near the town.
Radiological situation in Slavutych Town is satisfactory. Maximum exposition doze of gamma background does not exceed acceptable level.
Monitoring of the electromagnetic background is not performed because high-voltage lines are outside the town. Noise level in the town does not exceed acceptable. Geopathogenic zones (anomalies) have not been registered in Slavutych.
Main resources of air pollution are motor transport and town boiler-house, which works on the natural gas. The distance between sanitary protected zone from the boiler-house to the residential buildings is more than 1 km.
Harmful releases into atmosphere during the year(ton/square km).
The Town water supply is performed from 30 water supply wells. The territory of water scoop is characterized by the lack of existing and potential sources of pollution of the soil and water-bearing horizons.
The source of Slavutych centralized water supply are middle pressure waters of Buchackiv and Cenomanian water-bearing horizons. The water in the Town meets the requirements DST 2874-82 "Drinking Water" both on microbiological and sanitary-chemical indexes.
The Dnieper River is constantly monitored with the aim of constant control after exploitation of reused water supply systems, implementation of water purification technologies.
Purified wastewater is thrown into the Dnieper River through two discharge headers. Capacity of sewage treating facilities (STF) is 15.000 m3 per day, 625 m3 per hour.
With the aim of increasing of the safety of the water purification process, STF and WTF units of water disinfection have been reconstructed and liquid chlorine was changed into natrium hypoclorite, which is produced on electrolysis facilities from sodium chloride
In the Town there are no potentially dangerous industrial objects, production manufacturing is not ecologically dangerous and harmful. Average release of contaminants into atmosphere is 75.24 tons during the year, which does not exceed established standards for releases. The ground approximately 12 km distant from the Town is used for burial of solid domestic waste.
Heavy metal (aluminium, lead, cuprum, vanadium, manganese, cobalt) content corresponds the level of background indexes, which makes it possible to consider this soil of acceptable category of pollution.
There is no man-caused pollution of the territory higher than boundary acceptable concentration (BAC). The Town territory is safe for living.
Infectious diseases of all age categories are not connected with harmful influence of environment factors.
For improving the Town air dust depressing and washing are conducted in the streets during spring and summer periods, new green zones are created in the Town.
